Italian Gastronomic Experience in Luxury Destination Weddings

In Italy, food is never just food. It is cultural identity, ritual, storytelling. It is the most immediate and sincere way we have to welcome, celebrate, and create connections. This is why, when a couple chooses to get married in Italy, gastronomy is one of the central elements of the entire experience, just as important as the location, the light, or the atmosphere. Talking about food in the context of destination weddings in Italy means talking about emotions, memory, and beauty. And this is exactly where the story begins.

Wedding table set

In a luxury destination wedding in Italy, food takes on a deeply significant role, because it is not simply about offering an excellent meal, but about creating a true sensory journey for the couple and their guests, welcoming them into our culture and leaving them with an indelible memory of our beautiful country. In Italy, food has always been a tool for connection: it brings different cultures together around a table, creates moments of spontaneous sharing, and marks the rhythm of the day. It is a universal language that needs no translation, capable of making every guest an active part of the experience.

Italian aperitif and typical italian food

Luxury nowadays is not excess. It is quality. It is attention to detail. It is respect for the natural rhythm of things. A wedding menu in Italy reflects this philosophy: seasonal ingredients, short supply chains, regional traditions enhanced and reinterpreted with contemporary sensibility. Whether it is a dinner under the stars in Tuscany, a seaside reception on the Amalfi Coast, or an elegant banquet on Lake Como, food becomes an integral part of the story of the place.

International couples who choose Italy are often searching for authenticity. They want to experience – and allow their guests to experience – something that could not exist anywhere else. And it is well known that Italian cuisine is a heritage unlike any other in the world: a combination of simplicity and refinement, local ingredients and centuries-old culture, capable of transforming every shared moment into a truly memorable experience.

Italian Cuisine: A Heritage That Captivates International Couples

In 2025, Italian cuisine reached a historic milestone: it was officiallyinscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a unique cultural expression. This recognition does not celebrate individual dishes or specific traditions alone, but rather the entire Italian culinary practice as a system of values, gestures, rituals, and conviviality passed down through generations and deeply rooted in the land. The decision was unanimously approved by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee in december 2025, highlighting Italian cuisine as a global cultural phenomenon capable of connecting people, communities, and traditions through food.

This inscription represents a remarkable asset for the luxury destination wedding industry in Italy: it not only strengthens the country’s international appeal as a wedding destination, but also elevates gastronomy into a true cultural experience. Italian cuisine is a mosaic of regional excellences, united by a common thread of passion for quality, respect for ingredients, and the central role of gathering around the table. Each region has its own signature dishes, so distinctive and deeply rooted in tradition that they are difficult to replicate elsewhere, even within Italy itself. Among the most renowned and appreciated Italian culinary traditions are Roman cuisine, famous for dishes such as carbonara and amatriciana; Neapolitan cuisine; and the seafood-based cuisines of Puglia, Sicily, and the Amalfi Coast, known for the exceptional quality of their catch and for simple preparations that enhance natural flavors.

Equally celebrated are the meat-focused traditions of central and northern regions such as Tuscany and Lombardy. What all regions share, however, are outstanding dairy products, cured meats, and the local production of olive oil and wine. To experience this richness and embark on a true journey through flavors, it is not always necessary to travel the entire length of the peninsula. Sometimes, a multi-day wedding and a skilled catering team are enough to savor a wide variety of Italian delicacies, and to return home with a full stomach and, above all, a heart filled with joy.

Local Ingredients and Seasonality

Over the past decades, the wedding industry has completely redefined the concept of luxury. What was once synonymous with abundance – and at times even extravagance – is now understood as authenticity, quality, and respect for nature. When it comes to food, luxury means choosing local ingredients, harvested at the right moment, capable of expressing both the season and the land they come from. Very often, talking about ingredients also means talking about stories: those of small producers, of secrets passed down through generations, of raw materials that preserve the true flavor of their place of origin. In fine dining, a dish is never just food, but always a reflection of care, intention, and awareness.

When couples choose a seasonal menu, they offer their guests an experience that changes from day to day, month to month. Spring brings delicate aromas, fresh herbs, and early produce with bright, vibrant flavors; summer bursts with ripe fruit and fragrant vegetables; autumn offers mushrooms, truffles, and chestnuts; winter comforts with warmer, spiced, more robust ingredients. It is a story that evolves over time, turning each course into a unique and unrepeatable moment. Seasonality is also a gesture of quiet elegance: it shows respect for the natural cycle of things and for the integrity of flavor. And when food reflects its territory, guests can quite literally “taste” Tuscany in a plate of handmade pasta, sense the Amalfi Coast in the scent of lemons and freshly caught fish, or recognize Sicily through candied citrus fruits and Bronte pistachios.

Every ingredient becomes a narrative detail, a small element that helps tell the story of the wedding and the place where it is celebrated. If you are planning your destination wedding in Italy, paying attention to local and seasonal ingredients is essential. Beyond being a conscious and ethical choice, it transforms the table into a true stage of emotions, where flavors become memories. This is where luxury meets simplicity, and where cuisine becomes the undisputed protagonist of the day. In the next section, we will help you start thinking about menu ideas.

The Wedding Menu: Between Regional Tradition and Fine Dining

Creating a wedding menu for a luxury celebration in Italy means orchestrating a refined dialogue between memory and innovation. Chefs working in destination weddings across Italy always begin with a fundamental question: what makes this region unique at this time of year? This focus on seasonality is not merely an aesthetic choice, seasonal ingredients express their full sensory potential and allow chefs to work with produce at the peak of freshness. A zucchini blossom risotto makes sense in June, not in December. An eggplant parmigiana reaches perfection in August, when Mediterranean vegetables are at their best. The secret of a memorable menu lies in the balance between familiarity and surprise.

A chef cooks pasta and tomato sauce

International guests seek authentic Italian flavors, yet they also appreciate the sophistication of a cuisine that knows how to evolve. For this reason, many chefs adopt a layered approach: a regional classic as the foundation, contemporary techniques as the method, and elegant presentation as the final result. A luxury wedding menu is built like a story told in chapters. A seated dinner typically unfolds over four or five courses. The appetizer often celebrates seafood or local specialties: in Puglia, it might be a raw seafood selection with burrata and confit cherry tomatoes; in Umbria, a pigeon terrine with black truffle sauce.

The first course represents the ultimate expression of identity, this is where handmade pasta takes center stage, whether it is Piedmontese tajarin, Ligurian trofie, or Campanian paccheri. The second course moves toward deeper, more structured flavors. Lamb from the Langhe with Barolo reduction, the catch of the day paired with Sicilian citrus, or Chianina beef fillet finished with a Brunello reduction. Each choice is guided by wine pairings and the overall rhythm of the meal: after the richness of the first course, the dish must maintain interest without feeling heavy.

Wine as the Storyteller of the Land

Fortunately for us, Italians are masters not only of food, but also of high-quality winemaking. For this reason, in any luxury destination wedding worthy of the name, wine is never a simple accompaniment to food, but a true storyteller, one that enhances and completes the gastronomic experience. Italy boasts more than 400 native grape varieties spread across 20 regions, each with distinctive characteristics shaped by climate, soil, and centuries of winemaking tradition. This extraordinary diversity makes it possible to create pairings that tell not only the story of flavor, but the very soul of a place.

Typical italian wine and table set

The fundamental principle behind Italian wine pairings is simple: what grows together, belongs together. A wedding in Tuscany naturally celebrates the region’s full-bodied red wines, such as Brunello di Montalcino or Chianti Classico, both perfectly suited to red meats and the bold flavors of local cuisine. In Piedmont, home to Barolo and Barbaresco, considered among the most elegant wines in the world, structured reds accompany rich dishes like braised meats and tajarin with truffles. Veneto, meanwhile, offers the renowned Amarone della Valpolicella, a powerful wine made from dried grapes, ideal for substantial main courses.

A copule enjoys a glass of italian red wine

Coastal regions excel in white wines: Sicily produces Grillo and Nero d’Avola, Sardinia offers Vermentino di Gallura, and Campania is known for the refined Fiano di Avellino. These fresh, mineral-driven wines enhance seafood dishes and Mediterranean flavors. For the aperitivo, Italian sparkling wines, from the prestigious Franciacorta of Lombardy to Veneto’s Prosecco, are always an ideal choice, setting the tone for moments of lightness and conviviality. An experienced sommelier designs the wine journey as a narrative: beginning with lighter, fresher wines, moving toward more structured reds, and concluding with sweet wines such as Passito di Pantelleria or Recioto. Each glass follows and supports the rhythm of the meal, creating harmonies in which wine and food elevate one another, transforming dinner into a journey through the landscapes and flavors of Italy.

Aperitivo, Starters, and Live Cooking

The aperitivo at a luxury Italian wedding is far more than a simple prelude to dinner. It is a refined social moment that prepares guests for the culinary experience ahead, creating that perfect balance of conviviality and elegance that defines Italian style. This phase, often lasting up to an hour and a half, transforms outdoor spaces such as panoramic terraces, historic gardens, and villa courtyards into settings where food becomes a visual protagonist as well as a gastronomic one. The concept of the Italian aperitivo is rooted in the tradition of impress the guests: guests, welcomed with a glass of Italian sparkling wine, move freely among gastronomic stations curated down to the smallest detail. In some cases, buffets become almost theatrical installations, where food is presented as a work of art.

Guests making a toast

Silver trays display beef tartare, porcelain spoons hold delicate seafood crudi, and here and there even classical statues and busts appear, welcoming guests and inviting them to indulge. Themed stations are often a defining feature of Italian weddings, as they create a journey of culinary discovery. One station may be dedicated to Italian DOP cured meats and cheeses, where Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma are freshly cut and served alongside Apulian burrata. Another may showcase raw seafood, with oysters, scampi, and bluefin tuna tartare, while a fritti station delivers Roman supplì, zucchini blossoms, and olive ascolane straight from the pan, crisp and fragrant.

Each station celebrates a different facet of Italian gastronomic tradition, allowing international guests to explore the country’s remarkable culinary diversity. Live cooking elevates the aperitivo into a truly multisensory experience. Chefs prepare risottos finished to order, flambé crêpes Suzette, or assemble bespoke tartares before guests’ eyes. The aroma of freshly shaved truffle, the sound of food sizzling, the theatrical gesture of stirring a risotto to perfection, these elements turn food preparation into a performance that both entertains and captivates. Guests do not simply observe; they interact with the chefs, discover techniques, and ask questions about ingredients, creating the informal dialogue that makes the Italian aperitivo so distinctive and memorable.

The Cake and Dessert Moment

The cake cutting is one of the most iconic moments of any wedding. It often combines an experiential element, watching a traditional Italian dessert being prepared before guests’ eyes, with a deeply emotional one, as the couple toast together and cut the first slice. For us as wedding videographers, this moment offers extraordinary storytelling opportunities: the cake illuminated by candles or dramatic lighting, the couple’s knowing glances, the ritual gesture of the cut, and the guests’ applause are all must-have scenes in a wedding film. Our goal is to capture not just the action, but the atmosphere surrounding it, along with the expressions of joy and the decorative details that couples will want to relive for years to come.

A copule cuts their wedding cake

An increasingly popular trend in luxury Italian weddings is the live assembly of the wedding cake. Pastry chefs prepare and assemble the structure in front of the guests, turning the creation of the dessert into a live performance, a culinary spectacle that adds a theatrical and participatory dimension to the event. Layers are stacked and creams are spread as guests watch, fascinated by the creative process. The climax arrives when the couple are invited to take part themselves: they may place the final fresh flower, pour over berries, or add a symbolic decorative element. This involvement transforms the cake from a purely aesthetic object into a shared experience, creating a tangible memory of the couple’s collaboration and intimacy.

Alongside the main cake, many Italian weddings introduce an element of pure, nostalgic joy: artisanal gelato carts. These vintage-style carts, often decorated with a retro flair, serve gelato made from exceptional ingredients such as Bronte pistachios, Piedmont hazelnuts, Sorrento lemons, or Madagascar vanilla stracciatella. The choice of flavors becomes yet another tribute to the territory, while the informal and playful nature of the gelato cart creates a moment of lighthearted conviviality that perfectly balances the formal elegance of the wedding cake.

Preserving the Gastronomic Experience Through Visual Storytelling

A luxury wedding in Italy is an ephemeral and precious experience, one that deserves to be preserved in memory, but through a visual narrative capable of capturing its true essence. For us at Thirtyfive Studios, wedding videography is the art of weaving emotions, details, and atmosphere into a cinematic story that allows couples to relive every nuance of their most important day, and within this narrative, food plays a leading role. In wedding films, food is never a secondary element, but an emotional language that communicates care, abundance, and celebration.

Guests having an aperitif

An experienced videographer understands that the way a hand gently pours wine into a glass, the steam rising from a freshly finished risotto, or the glimmer of gold leaf on a wedding cake can be just as expressive as the couple’s exchanged glances. These gastronomic details become visual metaphors for the love and attention dedicated to the event: every thoughtfully prepared dish and every carefully chosen ingredient reflects the same devotion that unites the couple. Our approach can be described as cinematic and emotional, favoring discretion and the authenticity of the moments experienced throughout the day. Wedding videographers work as invisible observers, capturing spontaneous moments without disrupting the natural flow of the celebration.

Amore spritz Bar over tuscan hills

The camera lingers on the genuine reaction of a guest tasting Italian food for the first time, on the chef’s hands completing the final detail of a dish, on an impromptu toast among friends. These fragments of truth build an emotion that words could never fully convey. Years later, when couples watch their wedding film again, they will not simply remember that they ate well. They will relive the scent of fresh basil, the creamy texture of artisanal gelato, the shared joy around a table that celebrated both their love and the excellence of Italian tradition. This is the magic of videography: transforming a single day into an everlasting emotional legacy.

Food as a Living Memory of a Destination Wedding in Italy

When guests return to their everyday lives, far from the Tuscan hills or the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, they will carry with them far more than photographs and videos. They will take with them the memory of the flavors of Italian food, one of the finest expressions of our country, and the certainty of having tasted what many consider the best cuisine in the world. Food is not simply an item on a wedding timeline: it is the most powerful sensory memory, one that resurfaces unexpectedly years later, awakening emotions that seemed long forgotten.

Wedding table set

In every wedding celebrated in Italy, each dish is a chapter in a love story interwoven with the centuries-old history of a place, and couples are free to choose which cultural legacy they wish to share with the people closest to them. They are, in essence, saying: “This pace, these flavors, this beauty are part of who we are, and we want them to become part of your memory of this day as well.” Italian gastronomic excellence, with its unique ability to balance tradition and innovation, simplicity and refinement, creates experiences that transcend the moment of the meal itself.

Guests having dinner

Years after the wedding, when a guest tastes Tuscan pecorino or pours a glass of Barolo, their mind will instantly return to that sunset at the villa, that elegantly set table, that celebration of love. Food becomes the common thread that connects past and present, memory and emotion. If you dream of getting married in Italy, remember that food is a profound part of our culture and the very soul of a wedding celebration. Choosing it with care means shaping an authentic experience, one that speaks of the place welcoming you and the emotions you wish to share. Because in an Italian destination wedding, true luxury is not only what is seen, but what is tasted, lived, and remembered over time.

FAQ

Here to answer your questions and guide you through every detail.

Sure! You can request the price quotation by calling us or filling out the form. If you prefer, you can also send an email to this address: info@thirtyfivestudios.com

Weddings and elopements are confirmed only by contract and first deposit. Usually couples book their event 6-9 months in advance: for this reason, please contact us in time so that we can check our availability immediately.

It’s important to note that a date cannot be reserved until a formal contract is signed with our videoography studio. This policy is in place due to continuous inquiries, as multiple couples might request the same date during the same period.

Generally work is divided into two types: weddings and elopements.

For the wedding what is delivered is:

  • Trailer 4K (from 1 to 2 minutes).
  • Film 4K (from 8 to 12 minutes).
  • Extra videos 4K (these are video clips in addition containing full speeches, dances and other things).

For the elopement what is delivered is:

  • Instagram Reel (from 60 to 90 seconds).
  • Film 4K (from 3 to 5 minutes).

However, nothing prevents you from extending your requests when signing the contract. Request more information and take a look at our pricelist to find out about all the services we offer.

In our packages, travel and stay expenses are included in the cost because we regularly travel throughout Italy to shoot weddings. Being based in different places in Italy, we do not inflate prices for travel because we are close to major and famous wedding locations. Therefore, no matter where in Italy you choose to have your wedding, our costs remain the same.

Please note that VAT is included in our prices. However, our prices are listed in Euros, not in dollars, and any currency conversion fees and taxes from their originating bank are the responsibility of the clients.

Yes! We offer the possibility to add real Super8 or VHS-style footage to your wedding film. These nostalgic formats bring a timeless, emotional, and raw aesthetic that beautifully complements the elegance of digital cinematography. Whether you’re after vintage charm or an editorial look, this extra is perfect for couples who want their story to feel truly unique.

Generally, no more than 90 days for the complete work, as written in the contract. However, by choosing “fast delivery” you can receive the finished work within 15 days.

The videos are delivered in digital format via our Dropbox. However, upon extra payment, you can request a usb pen box set on which you can keep a copy of the videos.

Our studio is led by Francesco and Livio, who have been working side by side for years, sharing the same vision and creative approach. This allows us to guarantee consistency in both style and quality. From the very first conversation, you will know whether both of us will be present, or if one of us will be joined by a trusted member of our team. In any case, you can always expect the same reliability and attention to detail.

For years so far, we have chosen not to charge for the drone as for a service apart, so it is already included in our basic package and there is no increase in price. This instrument will be used at our discretion, where there is needed.

In some places drone use is unfortunately not permitted. In that case we will use 4K stock aerial footage of the location.

In a wedding we generally stay from 8 to 10 hours. For an elopement the service time ranges from 4 to 6 hours.

Obviously it is possible to create a tailor-made contract for you in order to cover the entire event (welcome dinner, night party, post and pre wedding experiences).

Yes, you can make some small changes to the video such as scene changes. It is not possible to change the music because the music is always chosen by the couple before starting the assembly phase.

We always give the couple the choice of two important things:
the music and the parts of the speeches.

The music can be chosen by the couple before or after the wedding day.

For the speeches, however, we send the couple all the videos of the speeches and the couple can tell us the most important minutes they want to have in the video.

In this way we try to create a product that is as close to what the couple would like to receive.

Obviously this is not a requirement. If the couple doesn’t want to do this, they can totally rely on our personal taste.

With our videography studio, we do not directly offer a photographic service. However, we do offer our exclusive “Film Frames” service, which consists of approximately 400 high-quality 4K images (both vertical and horizontal) extracted from our video footage. Additionally, we deliver a curated selection of 30 preview images within 24 hours after the event.

This allows you to have a consistent visual style across video and photo, managed by a single team, while significantly reducing overall costs. Alternatively, we’re happy to recommend professional photographers we frequently collaborate with across Italy.

How Wedding Videographers Work Without Being Seen

What Wedding Videographers Notice That Couples Often Miss

There is a kind of blur that settles over a wedding day. Not the blur of chaos, because most well-planned weddings run with surprising precision, but something closer to the blur of full immersion. Of being so entirely inside a moment that the moment itself becomes difficult to see. Couples
