Tying the Knot in Umbria: A Scottish Celebration at Villa Baroncino

Italy is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations around the world: its natural wonders, its unparalleled artistic and cultural history, and its culinary delicacies drive millions of tourists to our Bel Paese every year. Many are the couples who come here to celebrate their wedding or elopement, surrounded by the beauties of the Italian territory, chosen precisely so that they can make an enchanting setting for their big day (there are even couples who get married in their home country and come to Italy specifically so they can shoot their wedding video here!). Among the most popular regions, Tuscany stands out, followed by Campania and Puglia. However, as much as each of these regions holds unparalleled wonders, there are many others, less acclaimed, that are home to equally enchanting places. One of these is Umbria

Often underrated because it is little known, especially abroad, this region knows how to offer so much to those who have the desire and curiosity to discover it. Graeme and Danielle chose to get married right here, in the charming estate of Villa Baroncino: a farmhouse surrounded by greenery with a breathtaking view of Lake Trasimeno. Their Scottish ceremony took place among the rolling Umbrian hills, with the wind caressing them and the cypress and olive trees acting as silent witnesses to their promise to spend the rest of their lives together.

Getting married in Umbria, where nature embraces history

“There are more places in the world than roads, you just have to be willing to move.”

So wrote Gianni Rodari, a famous Italian writer, in one of his most famous fables. The implicit message is clear: often the places that know how to give the most to those who venture there, are precisely those whose roads are less traveled. Umbria is a treasure chest full of wonders, a place that knows how to combine every element of Italian excellence. Now referred to as “the green heart of Italy,” this region is distinguished by its unspoiled nature, characterized by hilly landscapes, picturesque valleys and meandering rivers (not coincidentally, it is home to several of the national parks, such as the Monti Sibillini National Park).

The region’s heterogeneous landscape is dotted with urban centers and villages steeped in a rich historical legacy. Populated since Etruscan times, Umbria later experienced Roman influence, becoming an integral part of the Empire, and was of central importance in Italy’s medieval history. This is why artistically and architecturally it can boast of numerous medieval castles and villages, churches and basilicas filled with works of art by some of the world’s most important artists such as Giotto, whose frescoes are preserved in the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.

Choosing to celebrate your wedding in Umbria is definitely an unconventional but absolutely winning choice: couples who choose to get married in this area will forever carry in their hearts the memory of a special, unspoiled, unique land. A place that carries with it something ancestral, springing from the combination of lush nature and the centuries-old history of its villages: a setting characterized by timeless beauty.

The green heart of Italy: Villa Baroncino and its lush nature

The Villa Baroncino estate stands in the rolling hills of Umbria, near the border with Tuscany, a short distance from Cortona and Perugia. The farmhouse is completely surrounded by nature: it overlooks Lake Trasimeno to the south, while to the north it flanks a park that is home to a centuries-old olive grove. All around, the boundless unspoiled countryside offers an unparalleled spectacle: cypresses, olive trees and vineyards decorate the landscape, let the wind caress them and dance to its rhythm, illuminated by the soft golden light so typical of these hilly places.

Nature and the earth are the true protagonists of this place, celebrated by Villa Baroncino through an artisanal production of high quality olive oil and wine. Newly married couples and their guests here have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this agricultural tradition, savoring local products and participating in wine and oil tastings, thus enriching their experience in the splendid setting of the Villa.

What makes Villa Baroncino perfect for your dream wedding

Given its almost disputed location, straddling Umbria and Tuscany, the estate has a very distinctive style that hybridizes the elegance and sophistication of the two different regions. The villa, restored from an old rural farmhouse, retains its most characteristic details such as doors, furniture, beams and terracotta floors, which thanks to careful restoration now breathe new life. The bright and spacious rooms are characterized by great elegance and sobriety, the colors of the bedding, curtains and furniture constantly refer to nature and its hues.

It was in this bucolic setting that Graeme and Danielle prepared for their big day, surrounded by light flowers, olive trees and cypress trees. The light and harmonious atmosphere that Villa Baroncino can offer made their wedding video truly special. From my point of view, this beautiful location and this equally beautiful couple are proof that elegance is something very different from opulence and glitz. On the contrary, sometimes simplicity is the key to a very classy wedding.

Danielle and Graeme’s enchanting Scottish wedding

Graeme and Danielle celebrated their Scottish wedding at Villa Baroncino. It was a special ceremony that found its perfect expression in the bucolic setting of the Umbrian Villa. The newlyweds prepared for their special day in the spacious rooms of the estate, surrounded by the love and smiles of their closest friends. Graeme and the boys made a spectacular entrance, all arriving together as a true team, looking dapper in their kilts, as was the tradition.

The groom waited for Danielle at the altar, who arrived accompanied by her beloved mother, and I guarantee that only video can describe, far more than my words would, the emotion on their faces when they looked at each other for the first time. The couple said their “I do!” in a magical setting of white flowers, with a breathtaking view of the low Umbrian hillsides dotted with tall cypress trees. What really caught my attention at this wedding was the light: a light that gently danced across the landscape, reflected on the faces of the guests, and shone with a special glow in the newlyweds’ eyes in love.

The synergy between the venue and the newly married couple seemed almost a written destiny:I firmly believe that the same wedding would not have had the same charm in any other setting. I consider the harmony between the couple and the location to be fundamental, because it generates an overall effect of harmony and cohesion that is also clearly manifested in the video, giving it a special narrative force.

The visual tale of a special day

Working on Danielle and Graeme’s wedding video allowed me to discover the beauty of a region so little visited. Once I arrived in Umbria, what unfolded before my eyes were peaks shrouded in lush forests and wide valleys shaped by streams and bodies of water; gentle slopes topped by ancient villages and medieval castles, furrowed by paths telling ancient stories of art and culture. All this beauty was enriched by the love story of two people, and I was able to tell and experience it firsthand. This for me is always a huge privilege that I never take for granted.

During this wedding I worked with a very good photographer, Mark (valentinaweddings.co.uk) and I have a very similar approach to work, so we hit it off immediately and worked very well together. He, like me, prefers a documentary approach, informal and unobtrusive, focused on the emotions and spontaneous gestures of the subjects. I am sure that our work has given Danielle and Graeme precious memories that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Witnessing cultures: weddings around the world through my lens

There is one aspect of my work that I particularly enjoy, and that is to have the opportunity to see with my own eyes – and record through my videos – the different ways in which every culture in the world celebrates love. So far I have witnessed and wedding rites of different kinds (Jewish, Scottish, Indian, Iranian…) and have had the opportunity to see incredible places. Each couple who chooses to entrust me with the memories of their big day contributes to making my work not just a visual testimony, but an authentic exploration of cultures and human connections.

I believe that each of these experiences has profoundly enriched me as an individual and as a professional, and each new adventure as a videomaker becomes an additional chapter to my wealth of knowledge, ready to be put at the service of the next couple with the same passion and dedication. What moves me is always the belief that the wedding video is a priceless object, capable of capturing the essence of a unique and unrepeatable moment. Our mission is to transform every union into a precious visual story, so that the bride and groom and their loved ones can relive and share the magic of their special day forever.

Weddings and elopements are confirmed only by contract and first deposit. Usually couples book their event 6-9 months in advance: for this reason, please contact us in time so that we can check our availability immediately.

It’s important to note that a date cannot be reserved until a formal contract is signed with our videoography studio. This policy is in place due to continuous inquiries, as multiple couples might request the same date during the same period.

Generally work is divided into two types: weddings and elopements.

For the wedding what is delivered is:

  • Trailer 4K (from 2 to 4 minutes).
  • Film 4K (from 10 to 15 minutes).
  • Extra videos 4K (these are video clips in addition containing full speeches, dances and other things).

For the elopement what is delivered is:

  • Instagram Reel (60 seconds).
  • Film 4K (from 5 to 7 minutes).

However, nothing prevents you from extending your requests when signing the contract. Request more information and take a look at our pricelist to find out about all the services we offer.

In our packages, travel and stay expenses are included in the cost because we regularly travel throughout Italy to shoot weddings. Being based in different places in Italy, we do not inflate prices for travel because we are close to major and famous wedding locations. Therefore, no matter where in Italy you choose to have your wedding, our costs remain the same.

Please note that VAT is included in our prices. However, our prices are listed in Euros, not in dollars, and any currency conversion fees and taxes from their originating bank are the responsibility of the clients.

Generally, no more than 90 days for the complete work, as written in the contract. However, by choosing “fast delivery” you can receive the finished work within 15 days.

The videos are delivered in digital format via our Google Drive. However, upon extra payment, you can request a usb pen box set on which you can keep a copy of the videos.

Our videography studio operates as a cohesive team with a shared vision and methodology. Consequently, we can all ensure the same reliability and style consistency, However, during our acquaintance you will know immediately if I will be free for your event or if my team will be present.

For years so far, we have chosen not to charge for the drone as for a service apart, so it is already included in our basic package and there is no increase in price. This instrument will be used at our discretion, where there is needed.

In some places drone use is unfortunately not permitted. In that case we will use 4K stock aerial footage of the location.

In a wedding we generally stay from 8 to 10 hours. For an elopement the service time ranges from 4 to 6 hours.

Obviously it is possible to create a tailor-made contract for you in order to cover the entire event (welcome dinner, night party, post and pre wedding experiences).

Yes, you can make some small changes to the video such as scene changes. It is not possible to change the music because the music is always chosen by the couple before starting the assembly phase.

We always give the couple the choice of two important things:
the music and the parts of the speeches.

The music can be chosen by the couple before or after the wedding day.

For the speeches, however, we send the couple all the videos of the speeches and the couple can tell us the most important minutes they want to have in the video.

In this way we try to create a product that is as close to what the couple would like to receive.

Obviously this is not a requirement. If the couple doesn’t want to do this, they can totally rely on our personal taste.

With our videography studio, we do not directly offer photographic service. However, we do offer the “Film Frames” service, which consists of about 100+ images (vertical and horizontal) in 4k from our clips. This allows you to have one team at your event, one image style and cut the cost in half. Alternatively, we will be happy to recommend some professional photographers with whom we frequently work throughout Italy.
