10 Original Ideas for an Unforgettable Wedding That’s Truly Yours

Some dream of the big white dress, the wedding march, the rice toss, and the cake cutting in front of a hundred guests. And then there are those who simply want something different. If you’re in the latter group, know that you’re not alone, and most importantly, there are no rules when it comes to getting married. Now more than ever, couples are embracing the freedom to create a day that truly reflects who they are, even if it means breaking tradition. Because getting married should be a genuine act, not just a checklist of formalities. Want to say your “I do” barefoot on a beach? Have a symbolic ceremony in the woods? Swap the formal lunch for a garden brunch, or dance at sunrise instead of sunset? Do it.

The beauty of the modern wedding is that it can be anything you want and nothing that doesn’t feel like you. What matters is that every choice holds meaning for you, not for tradition, not for relatives, not for expectations. It could be just a detail, a personalized ritual, or the entire format of the day, the important thing is to feel free to express yourselves. Sometimes, all it takes is a shift in perspective: start with what you love, and build around that. An original wedding isn’t necessarily extravagant or loud. It’s a wedding where everything has a purpose, and every gesture feels like yours. And that’s exactly what will make it unforgettable for you, and for those lucky enough to share it with you.

Elopement with Friends: Small, Intimate, and Authentic

In recent years, more and more couples have been rediscovering the beauty of simplicity through a particular kind of wedding, one some see as a bit radical, and others as incredibly romantic: the elopement. Traditionally known as a “runaway wedding” — often chosen by celebrity couples seeking maximum privacy on their big day — an elopement is a small-scale celebration, typically held in a special location with only a few close ones present or even just the couple and their witnesses. In its “soft” version, it can become a mini wedding: a cozy ceremony, perhaps surrounded by nature or held in a countryside home, shared only with the people who matter most.

The result is a deep, authentic experience, completely free from formalities. Many couples choose elopements because they allow them to marry in their dream location while staying perfectly within budget (no guests, no elaborate dinners, lower budget). With fewer people, there’s room to invest in more meaningful experiences: a dinner under the stars, a weekend in a Tuscan farmhouse, a lakeside ceremony at sunset, or a forest elopement. Every detail can be tailor-made, stress-free, and truly savored, without the pressure of a big event.

From a videography perspective, elopements offer something truly special: intimacy and spontaneity take center stage. The result is often a cinematic-style video, almost like a short film. In just a few minutes, it’s possible to tell a rich, poetic story that lasts over time. It’s no surprise that many videographers now offer packages specifically designed for elopements or small-scale destination weddings. This choice isn’t for everyone, but for those who feel it’s right, it can be transformative: no obligations, no tight schedules, just a fully lived, deeply personal “yes.” And maybe, carefully captured, so it can be relived again and again.

Alternative Venues That Tell Your Story

When thinking about where to celebrate a wedding, the first images that often come to mind are elegant villas, scenic restaurants, or traditional churches. But if that’s not your world, why force yourselves into a setting that doesn’t reflect who you are? More than anything else, the venue has the power to truly shape your wedding day: it becomes the stage, the backdrop, and often even the heart of your story. Try thinking about it differently: do you love reading? Then why not get married in a bookstore, or a cozy neighborhood library? Are you passionate about cinema? There are old theaters or indie cinemas that can be rented for events, offering a charming, vintage atmosphere.

Wedding in San Galgano abbey

If you’re nature lovers, you might choose a forest, a greenhouse, a lavender field, or even a remote mountain cabin you can only reach on foot. If your dream leans more urban, a rooftop in the city or an industrial loft can be the perfect setting for a modern, metropolitan ceremony. What matters most is that the place speaks about you, that it reflects who you are, and that it connects in some way to your story, your interests, or simply your aesthetic taste.

Wedding proposal on the Dolomites

It doesn’t have to be Instagram-worthy, it has to be real. Sometimes, the most meaningful venue could be a family home, a courtyard, a private garden, or even the spot where you shared your first kiss. Choosing an unconventional space also gives you more freedom to personalize every detail. And don’t forget: unique venues often offer extraordinary visual settings, perfect for photo and video shoots that truly stand out from all the others you’ve seen.

Creative Dress Code (For You and Your Guests)

Who says the wedding gown has to be white, long, and voluminous? Or that the groom must wear a suit and tie? What you wear on your wedding day says a lot about you, as individuals and as a couple. And for that very reason, it can — and perhaps should — be reimagined in an original way. There are no rules, especially when it comes to dress codes. Some opt for colorful suits, others choose vintage outfits found at thrift stores, or have custom pieces made by local artisans. Short dresses, tailored suits, kimonos, cowboy boots, bold accessories, anything goes, as long as it makes you feel comfortable and gives you butterflies.

The bride and her bridesmaids with colorful pajams

For many couples, letting go of traditional standards feels like a true liberation. They finally feel like themselves, even in front of the camera. And why not invite your guests to be part of that vision too? A themed dress code, whether it’s a color, an era, a floral detail, or a coordinated color palette can make the atmosphere even more cohesive, fun, and immersive. The key is to communicate it thoughtfully, maybe through examples or a mood board on your wedding website, to inspire without pressuring.

In the end, how you dress on your wedding day is just an extension of who you are. There’s nothing more original — or more elegant — than authenticity. We once worked as videographers at a wedding held on Halloween, where the bride wore black and the groom a green velvet suit, while the guests were all in light colors. A perfect example of flipping the rules on their head! The venue was an ancient, atmospheric castle, and with the right details — from the dress code to the floral design — the wedding turned into a truly punk-inspired event!

A Participatory Ceremony: Let Your Guests Speak

The ceremony is undoubtedly the most meaningful moment of any wedding, yet it often ends up being the most rigid and the least emotionally engaging for guests. So why not turn it into a shared, heartfelt, and truly memorable experience? One of the most beautiful — and increasingly popular — ideas is to make the ceremony participatory, by giving a voice to the people who love you. Some couples choose to give a close friend the “power” to pronounce them married, instead of relying on a traditional officiant. Others might ask a guest to open the ceremony with a personal speech, a sibling to read a poem, or a parent to share a memory.

You could invite guests to write a word on a small note and read them aloud during the ceremony or pass around a microphone and let someone, spontaneously, offer a few words of blessing. It doesn’t have to be perfect or scripted; in fact, the unscripted moments often turn out to be the most genuine and touching. From a videography perspective, these moments are pure gold: the glances, the tears, the smiles, the honest words. Every little piece becomes part of a rich and layered story, where every voice matters and every emotion leaves a mark.

A particularly lovely idea is to hand out disposable film cameras to each guest, so everyone can capture their personal point of view on you and your special day. The result? The most spontaneous and genuine photos you could ever hope for — more heartfelt than anything a professional team might plan — with the added beauty and nostalgic charm of film. (Bonus: it might even help you save on photography costs!) These small gestures help create a deep sense of connection, reminding everyone that the love being celebrated isn’t just between two people: it belongs to a whole community.

Wedding Videography: The Story of Your Big Day

Wedding videography is no longer just a way to “document” an event. Today, it’s an opportunity to tell a story, to create a film that can be relived for years to come, evoking the same emotions every time it’s watched, as if it were the first time. And to achieve that, the role of the videographer is absolutely crucial. They’re not just there to capture the key moments, but to craft a true narrative using a range of tools and techniques — from editing to color grading — to create something unique, personal, and deeply engaging. One of the most popular trends in modern weddings is to treat the video like an actual movie, where the couple are the protagonists of their own story.

Some videographers create short films with non-linear storytelling, dynamic shots, and unexpected angles to convey movement, emotion, and fluidity. Another trend — especially relevant in today’s social media era — is the teaser video: a short, powerful edit that captures the essence of the wedding day, with captivating visuals, evocative music, and perhaps a voice-over featuring the couple’s own words. It’s the perfect video to share with friends and family online, and a compelling preview of the full film. Customization is everything. Some couples include guest interviews; others pre-record their vows to be woven into the final edit. What matters most is that the video reflects the true spirit of the couple. And the beauty of a well-crafted video? It’s never just a “memory” of the day, it becomes an emotional masterpiece, one that continues to move and inspire even years down the line.

Immersive Experiences: Let Your Guests Live the Wedding in 360 Degrees

To make a wedding truly original — and something your guests will remember for a lifetime — the secret is to create a full 360-degree experience that engages all the senses. Beyond the ceremony and reception, there are endless possibilities for crafting special moments that entertain your guests and make them feel part of something truly unique. Immersive experiences can take many forms. One growing trend is to create themed corners where guests can actively participate. You might set up a ceramic painting station, with small items like mugs, plates, or vases that guests can decorate by hand.

Different kind of Chianti wines

Or for example if you get married in Tuscany, you could organize a local wine tasting for all your guests. You could also organize a group activity, like a custom trivia quiz about your relationship, a personalized board game, or a treasure hunt that reveals fun facts about your story. Another popular trend is interactive workshops. For example, a cooking class where guests prepare local dishes alongside the couple, or a sunrise yoga session, perfect for a relaxing wedding day vibe.

Art can also become part of the experience, with live painters creating a portrait of you during the ceremony, or musicians leading an improvised jam session throughout the event. These kinds of special moments are perfect to capture on video, as they add another emotional and engaging layer to your wedding story. A video that records the energy of a team game or the genuine smile of a guest will always have lasting value, bringing the wedding atmosphere back to life with joyful, vibrant memories.

Total Customization: Little Details That Make a Difference

Every wedding has its classics: the orange blossom, the wedding cake, the bouquet. But if you truly want to do something original, the key lies in the details. We’re not just talking about decorations, but about every little element that can tell your story and make it unique. For example, why not personalize every single invitation? You could send not just a printed card, but also a video message, a QR code linking to a playlist of songs that are meaningful to you, or an illustration representing a special moment in your relationship. Every element of the wedding can be thought of as an extension of your personality.

Wedding invitations, datails and stationery

If you love reading, why not create personalized bookmarks as wedding favors, or set up a small reading corner with your favorite books? Another emerging trend is experiential gifts: instead of offering typical material gifts, couples can organize experiences for their guests. Choosing to host a destination wedding and inviting guests to stay for a few days is a gift for both them and you, ensuring that your loved ones are present! Experiences like these, more than traditional wedding favors, are memories and moments that will stay with everyone forever.

Wedding shoes and wedding invitations

Even the music theme can be personalized in original ways: select songs that represent you, but also tracks tied to a special trip, a meaningful evening, or simply ones that reflect your style. In this case, the video will be key to capturing the atmosphere created by every note. The goal is for every detail of the wedding to speak of you with simplicity, but also with a touch of creativity. These small touches will not only make your wedding unique, but will also give your guests an unforgettable experience, one they’ll carry in their hearts forever.

Sustainable Wedding: Original, Ethical, and Conscious

Being original today doesn’t just mean breaking the rules to impress. Sometimes, the truest and most powerful originality comes from a conscious choice, from an act of care for the world around us. More and more couples are embracing the idea of a sustainable wedding: a way to celebrate love while staying true to their values, respecting the environment, and promoting an ethical lifestyle. Organizing a sustainable and eco-firendly wedding doesn’t mean sacrificing beauty, celebration, or joy. On the contrary, it’s often an opportunity to create something authentic, personal, and even aesthetically pleasing.

The tuscan countryside

It starts with simple but meaningful choices: using seasonal flowers, possibly grown locally, reducing food waste, choosing a zero-kilometer or fully plant-based menu, and using recyclable or compostable materials for decorations. Small gestures, but with a big impact. Even the choice of the wedding dress can be a statement of intent: vintage, rented, inherited from a family member, or custom-made with natural fabrics. Wedding favors could be symbolic — a donation to a cherished cause, a small plant, or a handcrafted item — and paper invitations are transformed into digital ones or printed on recycled paper.

Newlyweds walk a path in tuscan countryside

The venue? Ideally outdoors, at a farm stay, in a family home, or in a space that meets ecological standards. Travel arrangements can also be optimized, perhaps by organizing shared shuttle services to reduce the environmental impact. A wedding like this has a different soul, one that’s more respectful. In a world that moves fast, choosing slowness and sustainability is a true revolution. And like all successful revolutions, it starts with love.

Feel Free to Rewrite the Rules

In an era where everything is shared, photographed, and told in real-time, it’s easy to feel under pressure. As if the wedding has to be perfect, spectacular, and meet a thousand different expectations. But the truth is that the only rule that matters is this: your wedding will be the most important day of your life, the first chapter of your family life, and it should be exactly how you want it to be. You need to feel comfortable, happy, excited, full of love, and the only way to do that is by being 100% yourselves, in every single aspect.

An acrobat during a show in Venice

Being original doesn’t mean doing something strange or flashy. It means choosing consciously. It means asking yourself, every time: does this represent us? Does it move us? Does it make us feel good? If the answer is yes, then it’s the right choice, even if it’s unconventional, even if no one has ever done it before. Maybe you won’t cut the cake. Maybe you won’t throw the bouquet. Maybe you’ll get married on a weekday, in jeans, in a bookstore, or under the rain. And it will be beautiful because it will be yours.

Guests wear Venetian masks

And if there’s one thing that wedding videography can do better than any other form of storytelling, it’s this: capturing the uniqueness, showing you every emotion without filters, allowing you to see from the outside how real you were in that moment. Not to appear, but to remember. To preserve. In a world full of “magazine cover” weddings, originality isn’t about the plot twist. It’s in the consistency, the freedom, the love put into every choice. And if you start from there, it will be nothing but unforgettable.

FAQ

Here to answer your questions and guide you through every detail.

Sure! You can request the price quotation by calling us or filling out the form. If you prefer, you can also send an email to this address: info@thirtyfivestudios.com

Weddings and elopements are confirmed only by contract and first deposit. Usually couples book their event 6-9 months in advance: for this reason, please contact us in time so that we can check our availability immediately.

It’s important to note that a date cannot be reserved until a formal contract is signed with our videoography studio. This policy is in place due to continuous inquiries, as multiple couples might request the same date during the same period.

Generally work is divided into two types: weddings and elopements.

For the wedding what is delivered is:

  • Trailer 4K (from 2 to 4 minutes).
  • Film 4K (from 10 to 15 minutes).
  • Extra videos 4K (these are video clips in addition containing full speeches, dances and other things).

For the elopement what is delivered is:

  • Instagram Reel (from 1 to 2 minutes).
  • Film 4K (from 5 to 7 minutes).

However, nothing prevents you from extending your requests when signing the contract. Request more information and take a look at our pricelist to find out about all the services we offer.

In our packages, travel and stay expenses are included in the cost because we regularly travel throughout Italy to shoot weddings. Being based in different places in Italy, we do not inflate prices for travel because we are close to major and famous wedding locations. Therefore, no matter where in Italy you choose to have your wedding, our costs remain the same.

Please note that VAT is included in our prices. However, our prices are listed in Euros, not in dollars, and any currency conversion fees and taxes from their originating bank are the responsibility of the clients.

Yes! We offer the possibility to add real Super8 or VHS-style footage to your wedding film. These nostalgic formats bring a timeless, emotional, and raw aesthetic that beautifully complements the elegance of digital cinematography. Whether you’re after vintage charm or an editorial look, this extra is perfect for couples who want their story to feel truly unique.

Generally, no more than 90 days for the complete work, as written in the contract. However, by choosing “fast delivery” you can receive the finished work within 15 days.

The videos are delivered in digital format via our Dropbox. However, upon extra payment, you can request a usb pen box set on which you can keep a copy of the videos.

Our studio is led by Francesco and Livio, who have been working side by side for years, sharing the same vision and creative approach. This allows us to guarantee consistency in both style and quality. From the very first conversation, you will know whether both of us will be present, or if one of us will be joined by a trusted member of our team. In any case, you can always expect the same reliability and attention to detail.

For years so far, we have chosen not to charge for the drone as for a service apart, so it is already included in our basic package and there is no increase in price. This instrument will be used at our discretion, where there is needed.

In some places drone use is unfortunately not permitted. In that case we will use 4K stock aerial footage of the location.

In a wedding we generally stay from 8 to 10 hours. For an elopement the service time ranges from 4 to 6 hours.

Obviously it is possible to create a tailor-made contract for you in order to cover the entire event (welcome dinner, night party, post and pre wedding experiences).

Yes, you can make some small changes to the video such as scene changes. It is not possible to change the music because the music is always chosen by the couple before starting the assembly phase.

We always give the couple the choice of two important things:
the music and the parts of the speeches.

The music can be chosen by the couple before or after the wedding day.

For the speeches, however, we send the couple all the videos of the speeches and the couple can tell us the most important minutes they want to have in the video.

In this way we try to create a product that is as close to what the couple would like to receive.

Obviously this is not a requirement. If the couple doesn’t want to do this, they can totally rely on our personal taste.

With our videography studio, we do not directly offer a photographic service. However, we do offer our exclusive “Film Frames” service, which consists of approximately 400 high-quality 4K images (both vertical and horizontal) extracted from our video footage. Additionally, we deliver a curated selection of 30 preview images within 24 hours after the event.

This allows you to have a consistent visual style across video and photo, managed by a single team, while significantly reducing overall costs. Alternatively, we’re happy to recommend professional photographers we frequently collaborate with across Italy.
